What sort of person is a SPACE volunteer ?

Anyone who is interested in people, and has the ability to listen to their story.
Someone with a sense of humour!
We will need references and we will also carry out a CRB check.

What time commitment is needed?
You would need to be able to give a minimum time commitment of 4 - 6 hours a month.

Where would I need to be?
Most activities are centred around St. Mary’s Church in the centre of Aylesbury.
SPACE can reimburse volunteers travelling expenses within Aylesbury.

What does a SPACE volunteer do ?

 

Any or all of the following;
.

helps to run drop in sessions which happen 3 times a week.

provides listening opportunity both to groups and on a one to one

basis.

helps support social occasions – e.g. ten pin bowling, games

evenings

helps support workshops (often held on a Saturday) or courses.

attends training and supervision sessions

What does a volunteer get out of it ?

All volunteers are given training in listening and personal safety skills, with ongoing training and supervision.

Volunteers will make new friends, share in the difficult and the good times of members, along side other volunteers, and staff.
